The BAA represents a group of Baltimore area FIRST robotics teams. FIRST is a national program designed to encourage high school students to follow careers in science and technology. The BAA was formed to assist teams by sharing fundraising resources, mentors, and knowledge.

The 2010 FIRST Robotics Competition has landed! Teams across the nation now have just six weeks to design, build, and test their robots to compete in this years game Breakaway. Breakaway is game type with new human interactions, bumps and a whole lot of fun. This year, Teams play a game simillar to soccer. Teams attempt to score goals at the two opposing teams goals. Each goal scored earns the teams +1 point. At the end of the match, teams earn points for robots suspended above the ground on a bar from the control station to the middle of the arena.
You can find out more by heading over to FIRST's website or head over to the video archive to watch the Breakaway game video.

The BAA proudly hosts the Battle O' Baltimore off-season FIRST Robotics Competition in August. The 2009 event at The Park School hosted 11 teams from Maryland. Watch for more information about our 2010 event. www.battleobaltimore.com!
